About the Publication

Trill Mag is a non profit online magazine that allocates to the Gen Z demographic. The magazine consists of articles and artwork surrounding news, entertainment, culture, and other categories of content. As a graphic design intern the task at hand is designing artwork to accompany the articles. The article entitled: The Ankle Vs. Crew Socks Debate by Elise Payne is about the analysis of the generational barrier between socks trends in fashion; specifically demographics of Millenials and Gen Z.

To depict the artwork for the article the main focus was highlighting the competition between crew and ankle socks. The official image is playful in visualizing a clash between fashion trends noticeable by the patterns of the socks themselves. On the left side crew socks featured patterns that marked a time where pop art was resurfacing in the early 2000s. The right side is presenting ankle socks with patterns that have an abstract and more consise design that is prevalent in the 2020s. The mockup visual contains the artwork that would be printed on a physical newspaper.  Inspiration was retrieved from old and new experiences in wearing both socks. The finished result takes from the original concept illustration where the composition stems from.
